Who is Gladstone

About Us

Hi, my name is David Bailey, I am the Managing Director of Gladstone Engineering, having taken over from my Father, another David Bailey who retired a few years ago.

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce you to Gladstone and explain a little bit about ourselves. The business was started in 1977 by my Father who saw that the pottery industry required equipment that was long lasting and dependable and with that in mind Gladstone Engineering Co Ltd was born.

We are a family owned Company based in Stoke On Trent, Staffordshire, the heart of the ceramics industry in the UK, with its long established history from Wedgwood's to Royal Doulton's. Gladstone's experience stems from over 25 years of manufacturing, making us the largest manufacturer of hobby and studio equipment in the UK.

Since my Father's retirement I have run the business with help from a dedicated and enthusiastic team, which includes my Sister, Kim and our Manager Geoff Wheaver who are here to help you find the piece of equipment that is right for you.

We cast all our own castings on site in our own Foundr which is BS EN ISP 9002 approved, we machine all our own components in our machine shop, we do not sub-contract to the cheapest bidder and therefore have a greater control in the finished product. All our machines are electrically tested and go through a pre delivery inspection to ensure that the machine is to the highest standards of finish.

Dependability

A great amount of time and effort has gone into the development and design of all Gladstone's machines and we continually strive to improve our products to increase efficiency and performance. Gladstone does not build to a price, we build to a standard and then offer this standard at a competitive price with all the benefits and dependability of a Company that is proud of its products and service.
